Kwiks

A freeware-game by DIGITAL Nightmares!

This game requires a PC with Windows 95 and Direct X 3.0 or better ... At least a videocard with HiColor-SVGA and for sound and music a soundcard are needed.

What is Kwiks?

Kwiks is a clone of the old 8-bit classic game QIX. In the game the screen has to be filled as good as possible with a picture. This is done by marking areas on the screen which then (if there is no monster in them) are filled with the picure. When the player has filled 75% of the playfield the level is completed. With a white line the fill-area is marked, blue lines are old, filled white lines. The player must not cross his own white lines and these must not be hit by monsters, too! Blue lines and filled areas may be passed. Different types of monsters exist, they behave different and so must be handled special. Hitting a monster is deadly! If you get hit and there are lives left, you continue your game in the middle top of the screen. Every 5000 points you get a new life.

A few Tips:

The Game:

After the title-screen the main-menu appears. There you can choose START GAME with the cursorkeys and confirm with SPACE or RETURN/ENTER. In the game you see the filled area in percent, your level, your points and your lifes in the information bar. Beneath this you have the playfield. Your marker is blinking white, monsters are blinking in different colors.

If the game is not fast enough on a slow computer you can increase the graphics speed with the key F2. If this still is not enough speed, please toggle the music off with F8.

The Control:

Movement Cursorkeys
Help F1
Graphics faster/slower F2
Music on/off F8
Sound on/off F9
Screenshot F11
Quit ESC
Zoom (in picture-viewer) +/-
Scrolling (in picture-viewer) Cursorkeys

Have fun!
